Riding a jet ski is definitely one of the most attractive water sports that speed lovers can experience. Splitting the water wave and sliding on small and big waves at a speed of nearly 80 km/h is truly a unique and wonderful experience. Imagine a warm summer evening; While the sun is slowly falling asleep, a gentle breeze is blowing, the lights of the waterfront hotels are on, and you are riding a high-speed jet ski. Nothing can be better than this!
High consumption jet skis!
If we skip the positive points of water vehicles, we will reach their disadvantages, which include their high fuel consumption. With the increase in the price of fossil fuel and global warming, not only car manufacturers but also manufacturers of water vehicles have thought of electrifying their products. It may not seem expensive to ride a jet ski with fossil fuel at first glance, but the damage caused by burning it to nature will be irreparable.
It’s true that even if you live in a city on water, a jet ski is still not an everyday vehicle, but if using an electric jet ski can prevent the same small damage to the environment, why not do it? ?! We said all this to introduce you to Taiga ORCA, the world’s first electric jet ski. Taiga Motors was founded in 2015 and is now a Canadian company aiming to electrify jet skis. In addition to producing ORCA jet skis, this company also produces electric snowmobiles called “Nomad”. You can search for a jet ski rental in Toronto if you want to rent on of them.
We traveled to beautiful Lake Champlain in Burlington to test the Founders Edition of this awesome jet ski. This 1,270 square kilometer lake is located somewhere between the Canadian and American borders. When we planned to ride ORCA, the weather was not very favorable for us and we saw a rough lake, but this only added to the charm and excitement of our ride and did not affect the performance of the jet ski.
Light and powerful
Orca was first seen in 2019. The final version of this jet ski retained the familiar look of the original version. Fortunately, the manufacturer has also considered a wide range of colors to satisfy different customers.
This jet ski uses a 2 kWh battery pack, which can hardly be considered the same size as the Nissan Leaf battery. While Leaf’s small battery weighs about 220 kg, ORCA’s smaller battery weighs 330 kg, but Orca has been able to reduce its weight thanks to the use of carbon fiber composite in its body. Although this jet ski is heavier than other fuel-burning models on the market, its weight is still within a reasonable range, which is not bad considering that it is electric.
